I wrote in a previous post about iphone 3.0 that most of the new functionality in that OS are available now for most users ( the ones who jail-broke their phones that is). So here is a list of programs that I use to duplicate that functionality:

1. Copy And Paste: I use Clippy (Cydia-free) which does a good and it works across most apps.

2. MMS: SwirlyMMS (Cydia-$8) is just great, it has been around since 1st gen iphone and working nicely. the one thing I hate about it is it’s a separate application not like Apple’s elegant implemented messaging solution.

3. SMS Landscape Keyboard: iRealsms (Cydia-€10) Same as SwirlyMMS it’s been around for along time and it also includes a few extra features like SMS forwarding and Quick Reply.

4. Spotlight Search: I use QuickGold (Cydia-free) hit the hom button twice and search away. look through sms messages emails, contacts, safari history and apps.

5. Bluetooth File Transfer: iBluetooth (Cydia-€4) Send all kind of files with your PC at last.

6. Voice Memo: Voxie (App Store-$2) a really nice voice recording app with alot of functionality .

7. Push Notification: Backgrounder (Cydia-free) is just great, it let’s you force an application to run in the background (like an im client) making push notification possible. It’s only limitation is iphone limited ram.

8. Tethering: PDANet (Cydia-free) I tried imodem first but it didn’t work for me, PDANet on the other hand worked like a charm.

9. Email Landscape Keyboard: Easywriter (AppStore-free) good thing it’s free.

10. GPS Turn By Turn Navigation: xGPS (Cydia-free) uses google maps for its maps so thats great.

Functionalities That Are Not Included In 3.0:

1. Video Recording: Cycorder (Cydia-free) works great the only problem i have with it is the video files are too large.

2. Arabic Support: Arabtaller (Cydia-$30) Apple didn’t mention arabic language support, it works just fine but it’s a little pricey.

3. Motion Controls: CallController (Cydia-$3) allows you to answer the phone by shaking or silence it by flipping it over.

4. SMS Forwarding: iRealSMS (Cydia-€10) already talked about it.
