This is a pretty good blog although missing some stuff.

1) After going through all the posts I see no intro to your blog.

2) About page is absolutely useless.

3) Since there is no intro and nothing on the about page that makes you MM ” Mystery Man “.
4) I enjoyed most you the videos you posted, it seems you spend so much time on youtube anyways great choices.

5) This is just a simple question if you don’t mind answering regarding the ” Sling Media “, do you know what is the minimum required internet speed or is Kuwait’s crappy internet is okay and is it clear when displayed on TV or you get an image with bunch of blocks that’s for the regular type not the HD?

Keep up the good work and best of luck

First of all, thanks for your comment.

as for your points:

1, 2 & 3 the answer is simple, I didn’t expect much traffic here, and certainly not the publicity I got from the guy’s at 4thringroad.com. (I have to thank them for that) But rest assured, I will work on them soon.

4. well I spend most of my day on the net, and made this blog more like a summarization of the best stuff I came across today.

5. It’s mostly dependant on the upload bandwidth you have, starting from 256kbps you will do fine, but to get a very good quality on the go 512kbps minimum I would suggest.
And the download speed not less than 512kbpps just to utelize what your uploading.

If you are going to view via phone then min. requirements are fine.

streaming inside the house where the slingbox is located (like to another room) but using the same network, the image quality is superb.

Both version of slingbox are the same essentially the same (Solo & HD) the difference is the HD input, and if you’re streaming via internet it you won’t be able to tell the difference.

Thanks for the quick response

I was actually thinking of getting one but my internet connection sucks thanks to the crappy phone lines we have in our area. I have a 256Kbps DSL connection which is good for nothing except playing Battlefield online on the PS3. We used to have a 512Kbps connection but that included using a paradyne modem which lags every few hours and when you take the plug off it resets your configuration like opening ports and such. I tried even playing online using 3G connection which is good for downloading but not for gaming. Currently Viva is my only solution, unlimited downloads no caps, highest download speed I got so far 773 KB/s, downside is that it’s not stable so the speed fluctuate up and down and worse of all they have a stupid worm ‘Helkern’ running around their server which simply crashes your PC even if you have an Anti-virus like Kaspersky or ESET NOD32, but the solution is simply a personal firewall. I’m not planning on doing streaming to any room cause all the projects I have setup will be in my room and sometime in mid 2010 i’m going to build my Home Theater PC.

sorry to hear about your internet connection. The only goo use for a sling box in kuwait I would say is to use it via the mobile app, so that you can watch TV on the go.

good to hear about the HTPC, I was planing to build one for 2 years now, but kept putting it off till I canceled it and went another route (will post about that when I get back to Kuwait next week).
