Emergency Number Change
6 Aug 2009 3 Comments
As alot of people may or may not know, the emergency number in kuwait has changed from 777 to 112 in an effort to try and standardize the number all around the world. until the end of the year all calls to 777 will be forwarded to 112 until the system is officially launched. The ministry of interior says this bold step is in order to keep up with the rest of the world which are currently using 112….
ok hold on a second…
the US uses 911 and the UK uses 999. those are the biggest superpowers and they arent universally united. i took a quick glance online to check who is actually using 112 now and came up with this list… bali, bhutan, canary islands, curacao, france, french guiyana, grenada , latvia, leichenstein, lithuania, luxemburg, menorca, netherlands, portugal (but there is another number for forest firesin portugal beware!), slovenia, uganda, switzerland. some have it used as a number you reach by only mobile. hmmmm very interesting, next time im on a business trip to bhutan or leichenstein i will make sure i call 112 when i see a crime on the streets. but to be honest it says at the bottom of the site ..
When roaming with a GSM telephone in the European Union, use 112 for emergency services.

what if im not roaming GSM? what if im somewhere besides the european union?
