So if you want back compatibility, buy a used 60GB PS3, thats your best bet. As for the cabling, I totally agree. I have Launch Xbox 360 the doesn't come with an HDMI port so I have to use the stupid component wires and the huge power brick. thats just ridiculous. They need a re-design but it's doubtful with NATAL coming next year, I think thats when we will see a new Xbox. And what happened to your 360? did you bring it back to life?
