BlueLounge Refresh – Neat Charging Solution

11 Apr 2010  7 Comments

I tend not to use the charging adapters that usually come with the my phones or other devices if they can be charged via usb because its much more convenient and practical instead of having multiple wall socket chargers.
I came across the BlueLounge refresh and immediately added it to my cart. Its small convenient and cheap-ish ($50 on ThinkGeek). I really recommend it for people who carry more than one device on a daily basis.

I would really have loved it if it was slightly wider so that gadgets have some breathing space. Its hard to get 3 devices on it if one of the device’s charging port is on the side (think blackberry).

Rating: ★★★★½

ThinkGeek ($49-$69)
Amazon ($69)

This product is useful for some people but not others who don’t own a phone that support any of those connectors. Cell phone makers agree on micro-usb charging standard and those are AT&T, KTF, LG, mobilkom austria, Motorola, Nokia, Orange, Qualcomm, Samsung, Sony Ericsson, Telecom Italia, Telefónica, Telenor, Telstra, T-Mobile and Vodafone. As of 2012 the majority of all new phone models will support a common universal charging interface based on micro-usb. Maybe by that time we have a new wireless technology, and by wireless I mean wireless as in through the air just like the RCA Airnergy charger technology. Just imagine a router in your room that you connect your phone to through wifi and baaam phone is charging, and since its a router that means the entire house can charge too, and it would be very convenient that you can walk around the house and your phone in your pocket charging. The only problem would be if your out of range but technology is improving so we might get something better, also we might get fried from all those signals, as if we’re in a huge microwave :D .

I I think we are still a few years away for this king of tech to really catch on and becomes mainstream. But hey I well never say no to less wires. Now that I think of it, the iPad doesnt even charge with wires on certain devices. imagine if it was wireless LOL
