On June 23rd 1972 Zinedine Yazid Zidane was born in Marseille, France to Smaïl and Malika, 2 Algerian immigrants who left Algeria in 1953 to settle in Paris.

Being spotted at the age 14 by an AS Cannes scout who jumpstarted his professional career. In total, Zidane played for 4 professional football clubs. Started in Cannes and then transferred to Bordeaux at the age of 20. Where he had just one trophy to claim with his club, the UEFA Intertoto Cup in 1995.

He then was signed by Juventus in 1996 for ₤3 million GBP At the age of 24, that was Zidane’s first international club and there he won the Serie A (twice), Italian Super Cup, UEFA Champions League (twice), UEFA Super Cup, Intercontinental Cup and the UEFA Intertoto Cup.

But Zidane wasn’t done yet, he then signed with Real Madrid at what then was the highest ever transfer fee. ₤48 million GBP. Where he also help his team win the La Liga, Spanish Super Cup (twice), UEFA Champions League, UEFA Super Cup and the Intercontinental Cup.

Zidane’s brilliance also helped France win the World Cup in 1998 and almost did it a seconded time after coming back from retirement in 2006 if it wasn’t for that unfortunate incident the marked the end of his footballing career.

Rubbing It In

This is a photo-shopped image, but it conveys what the Oranje supporters feel like. The original had a German flag and was taken during Euro 2008. Netherlands and Germany didn’t play each other but the football rivalry between those two nations is just that awesome.

So This is Apple’s New Mapping Technology?

10 Jun 2012  1 Comment

When Apple released the iPhoto app for iOS the built-in maps app was swapped from the  usual Google maps to an open-source map tech. It looks like it is a place holder as Google gets ready to launch their own mapping technology.

Well, actually not their own rather they bought C3 more than a year ago. The military tech used for 3D mapping is all Apple’s now.

We will know more tomorrow at WWDC.

Hide And Seek Form A Toddler’s Point of View

Daniel Brace stuck a GoPro on his 2 year old daughter and started filming while they were playing hide and seek.

Its cute how she goes and looks at the last  place he was hiding every time they start a new game.

This looks like a cool idea for an FPS game.

Best Game Shown At E3 So Far?

5 Jun 2012  No Comments

All major companies had they E3 press conferences with the exception of Nintendo. A ton of new game IP’s were announced and a lot more sequels.

But the best game in my opinion that was shown in E3 so far is Watch Dogs from Ubisoft. The game looks great with a mix of stealth and hacking.

No word on a release date just yet so 2013 looks likly .

E3 2012 is Just Around The Corner

The Electronic Entertainment Expo or E3 for short officially kicks off tomorrow but usually there are some pre-E3 conferences held by major companies. Nintendo released a pre E3 direct stream which was a new thing. And Microsoft will lead with the first conference today starting 7:30 PM local time (1630 GMT). Both Microsoft and Sony said they won’t be announcing any new hardware at the show but we can still hope. I’m also excited to see more of Nintendo’s new Wii U.

You can watch the conferences online here:

Microsoft  (7:30pm) Link1 Link2

EA (11pm) Link1 Link2

Sony (4am) Link1 Link2

Nintendo (7pm) Link1 Link2

You can grab Nintendo’s pre E3 stream here.

This Used To Happen Every Day

The Attari Closing Ceremony used to take place every day at the Wagh border between India and Pakistan  till 2010. Because of it being the only road crossing between the two countries and due to the increased tension between them, lowering the flag ceremony was a bit more…..thrilling. The lowering of the flags or  “retreat” ceremony was more like a parade and a show for the people attending on both sides of the border.

It was canceled due to increased injuries to soldiers’ knees and backs from all the “Goose-Walking” taking place.
