iPhone 4 Mophie Case

3 Oct 2010  7 Comments

I preordered the Mophie case for the iPhone 4 a few of weeks ago and it got delivered last week. Its no secret that the iPhone 4′s battery is horrible and there is no way it will last a day on a single charge (unless you switch off everything). But with this case I get a day of usage without looking for a wall socket everywhere I go.

The case almost doubles the capacity of the the phones battery giving me a usable phone instead of a paper weight starting from 4pm.

The new case design is a lot better than the old (3G/3GS) one. its looks a lot sleeker and less bulky. As you can see from the pics, it gives it extra length at the bottom and your phone will be slightly thicker.

The Mophie Case is $80 excluding tax and shipping.

Fifa 11 iPhone: Best Football Game On The iPhone

I am not a huge iPhone gaming fan, I download games occasionally but I hardly ever play them. I really hate the onscreen control and really miss the physical buttons. But ever since I downloaded EA’s Fifa 11 for the iPhone a few days ago I changed my mind. It’s the only game I play now. It’s very well done with minimal controls. Of course your fingers block half the screen during gameplay and nothing still beats physical buttons but for the iPhone this is great. It also has commentary.

Fifa 11 for the iphone is $4.99 and its worth it in my opinion if you are a football fan.

MacUpdate Fall Bundle

15 Sep 2010  1 Comment

I posted perviously about MacUpdate promotions and bundles. I just noticed that the released their fall bundle. There are 3 apps that I liked and made me purchase the bundle Toast 10 Titanium, My Living Desktop and Live Interior 3D the extra apps are not bad but I think I would hardly use them. Toast 10 by itself makes the bundle worth it.

iPhone iOS 4 jailbreak for iPhone 3G,3GS and 4 has been released for your jailbreaking pleasure,. whats really cool about this jailbreak is that the hack is web based via exploiting the Safari browser and no extra downloading of software or even connecting your phone to a PC/Mac is required (although backing up is highly recommended). All you need to do is visit a website and everything is automatically is done for you. Jailbreaking my 3G went without a hitch and a sign of success is the appearance of a Cydia icon.

iPhone 3G + iOS4 = A Brick

29 Jul 2010  3 Comments

Ever since I upgraded my iPhone 3G to iOS4 it turned the phone into an unusable piece of hardware. I wasn’t using my iPhone that much ever since I got the Nexus One but now I cant even use it as an MP3 player. The phone is laggy, unresponsive and crashes frequently. I just cant wait for my iPhone 4 to arrive.

The video shows the iPhone 3G with the iOS4 running. The problem is I have it worse than what they are showing on the video.

iPhone 4 Released: Quick Hands-On

24 Jun 2010  4 Comments

Just went to the Apple store to play around with the new iPhone 4. It feels good in the hand, very responsive with the new A4 processor and 512MB RAM. The camera is on par with the Nexus One camera that I think is one of the best 5MP cameras around.

The line here in Albuquerque New Mexico was pretty long. There are two lines, one for purchases and one is for reservation. both were long.

As I talked to one of the sales representatives at Apple, He said there might not be enough iPhones for everybody and its likely that the will get Sold out the first day. But good news is that they have the iPad in stock

iPhone 4 Announced

8 Jun 2010  5 Comments

Mr. Jobs announced today the new iPhone 4 and iOS 4 to the world with no real surprises sadly as it was leaked a month ago with almost all details.

The phone will be released on June 24th and pre-order will start in a week (keep in mind they are carrier locked).

The main new features will be the front facing camera that enable Video chat (iPhone-to-iPhone only and via wifi only), higher resolution display and the new A4 CPU (iPad’s processor). Also it has some nice “theoretical” battery life, we will just have to wait and see.

Here is the promo video that explains the new features.

Make The Most Out Of Your iPhone’s Push Notifications Service – Use The Growl/Prowl Combo

4 Jun 2010  No Comments

Apple turned to “Push Notification” to work around the lack of multitasking capabilities on the iPhone. There are a large number of programs that use that service, I for one use it mostly to get the latest football scores. I really wanted a RSS app that used that service, but during my search I came across something better.

I found out that you can associate growl notification software (available for mac and PC) to push notifications to your iPhone via an app called Prowl ($2.99). So if a download is completed or if your  finished converting a file or even if you received a new tweet. you will be notified instantly via Apple’s push notification

To put it simply, if Growl displays it on your screen, it can push it to your iPhone. I found it a little handy. I’ve been using it for a few 2 months now. But because Apple’s notifications implementation is horrendous, I ended up turning off the RSS and twitter notifications. Why? because when I  receive more than one notification at the same time, I’ll miss the first one and will never now it existed, unless I go to the Prowl App, which defies the concept of notifications in the first place. I don’t need to go into an app to check my notifications, they need to be just…….THERE.

This is an oldish post I just got around to publishing it.

USA vs Kuwait: Macbook Prices

23 May 2010  9 Comments

I just read on Frankom’s blog that the the new Macbook Pro’s are available in Electrozan. After reading the flyer I decided to do a little comparison.

The US prices below include NY sales tax and the free standard delivery charges, so its the final price you will have to pay.

You can also an extra KD30-KD60 if you order via Amazon to an address other than NYC. The problem with that is the same problem if you buy it from Electrozan. You wont be able to get the 15″ model in high resolution.

I Might Jailbreak My iPhone Just For This!!

18 May 2010  1 Comment

I am not using my iPhone at the moment and its collecting dust in the apartment, my partner in crime is the Nexus One which I think is a much better phone to carry around for daily use. But after seeing the WiFi syncing app for the iPhone I’m thinking of jailbreaking it now, I have already jailbroken the iPad just to get “Backgrounder” but WiFi syncing sounds good.
