We all remember NegativEffect’s infamous GulfRun videos. Waiting for GulfRun 2011 videos man. And BrakeBanzeen has been writing for a while now, and if you are a gear-head you definitely have read his blog.

The blog will cover as it subtly puts it “Reviews on anything driven by fuels”. The blog looks great and posts are wonderfully written. Hope we see some airplane reviews.

The Hot Foot

The 67-year-old driver of the Mercedes told police he somehow got his foot stuck under the gas pedal. He says that caused the car to zoom across the parking garage in reverse and slam into the outer wall.

If his car was a Toyota it they would have blamed it on the accelerator.

It seams that we are finally going to get the wide version of the license plate here in Kuwait. Don’t worry, we are just a few decades late. I mean car manufactures had this size in mind when they where making there cars since god knows how long. Anyway, better late than never.

Do you sometimes wonder why you get stuck in traffic thinking that there must an accident or something blocking the way but suddenly the roads open up like nothing happened?  Wonder no more, a team of Japanese scientists replicated the phenomena calling it the “Shockwave Jams”

The mathematical theory behind these so-called "shockwave" jams was developed more than 15 years ago using models that show jams appear from nowhere on roads carrying their maximum capacity of free-flowing traffic – typically triggered by a single driver slowing down.

A bus driver in Taiwan fell asleep behind the wheel and smashed into a ton of cars causing a lot of damage.

It took sometime but the video is finally put together, we had a little preview for our GulfRun Drivers and we liked the feed back. In January of 2010 over 50 Drivers took their machines to the limit at Bahrain International Circuit. Drag Race, Drifting, Inner Circuit, Autocross, and GP Circuit with amazing mix of machines from the compact car to the super car. The machines were exciting but the skills of the drivers was even more impressive, year on year this just keeps getting better.

With all the recalls TOYOTA are issuing because of the accelerator pedals and the breaking system faults. I just found this too funny.

The end has finally dawned, and GulfRun 5 at the Bahrain International Circuit was over. I think everyone who participated or went to the event enjoyed it, as there was all out safe action and surprises down the way.  Last night was the closing ceremony in Lenotre, and GulfRun with their sponsors, handed out the timings of all the drivers and events and their awards.

Overall it seems there is alot of variety with the cars getting podiums and top times. The BMW M-Series have done well in alot of different categories, as well as the Lotus Exige.  The more track-oriented cars like KTM X-Bow and Caterhams are also around the top times.  Alot of different variety of street and supercars were on show here. And splitting them up into different categories also made it more realistic to race similar types of models (power-wise). Even though there were alot of awesome machines at the track this year lets hope some new ones show up next year to add more competition….

All in all, a special thank you to GulfRun, Marzouq from Zdistrict , and also Al-Falah Car Wash for their great dedication and help in making this possible for everyone. Until next year… drive safely.

Yesterday was the third and final day of the GulfRun. The whole day was drag racing only. The disappointing thing is that not all the cars participated in the event, but it was still a lot of un. Took some cool pictures.

All good things must come to an end. Thank you GulfRun you were wonderful.

T.Pain took me for a 5 min drive in the Caterham today here at the Bahrain GP Circuit. The car is amazing in cornering and has great acceleration, I really loved it.

This is the video I promised you of the Lamborghini Murcielago doing some doughnuts at the GulfRun 5 in Bahrain’s Drift Course.

Today was a really good day, the weather was a bit hot but very pleasant in the shade. All drivers participated in the full track, and also we saw some compete in the drifting competition that somehow transformed into a doughnut competition.

I also got to jump in a BMW M5 (above) and a Caterham (below) and be driven around the track.

Tomorrow, Day 3:

The drag race and the conclusion of the GulfRun 5 event. Practice should start by 9:30AM and then the elimination rounds. Should be fun.

Today was the first day in the Gulf Run 5 event, there was a very good turn up. we saw a lot of people that we knew there. we also saw a lot of bloggers.

We saw a lot of beautiful and exotic cars there as expected.

This was just the first day, and I took almost 400+ pictures, will filter and upload them when I get back.

Tomorrow: Day 2

All cars will have a go at the full track tomorrow. We might also see some drag racing too.

After spending some time yesterday morning at GulfRun car show at 360 Mall, I decided to go in and have a quick snack/meal somewhere in the mall. So we just walked into the open area with the cafe’s and decided to try Posh Cafe. I thought the name was kind of snobby and unoriginal, but went against my urge and sat there anyway. I didnt take any pictures and this is not an in-depth review. But we tried a selection of sliders, the chicken lettuce wrap and some juices. The presentation and taste of the food was very good. The waiters were professional, and the atmosphere was nice and open. Since it was a quick snack, I will have to go back again with the intention of really digging in and ordering a real meal. But so far it looks pretty good.

The set up was great, there was a DJ with nice music and lots of booths for most of the sponsors as well as the GulfRun booth selling their merchandise along with raffle tickets for the 2 Vespa’s. Our great friends Marzouq from Zdistrict was there as well as elwehbi from thegulfrun blog and brakebanzeen among others.

The following photos below were all taken by a 2 and half year old boy. This was his first time using a camera and it was a Nikon P6000, he is currently looking out for job offers.

When I went to DHL Arthiya to get my Nexus One. On my way back home I saw a lot of people parked on the side of the street and all where surrounding a man the looked slightly injured. I went on my way and exited 5th ring road via the exit after the bridge. I then saw a car the flipped and rested on the other side of the bridge. This guy was lucky that he didn’t go over at the middle of the bridge onto opposing traffic.

Also a raffle will be held on January 16th at 8pm for two special edition GulfRun Vespas. A GulfRun pearl white Vespa, and a special edition black Vespa. With all proceeds of the raffle being donated to Hayat Cancer Foundation.

Lots to be seen and enjoyed during the event at 360. Please make sure to pass by the GulfRun booth to buy raffle tickets as it being set up for a very good cause by the Hayat Cancer Foundation.  There will be other Gulf Run memorabilia items also on hand at the booth as well.

Number 1 : RIM’s breakthru into the Kuwaiti market with their Blackberry’s. Its hard to have a conversation with an owner of these devices without being interrupted by furiously rapid texting or beeps emerging from the phone. Do they realize they can have the same data plan with any smartphone and use any social networking/chatting program to the same effect?

Number 2 : Swarovski covered cars, especially for the guys. I may understand a girl (maybe not even a grown lady) doing this, but when a guy goes and takes his SUV and bling bling’s it all out with the glittery type crystals, thats just uncalled for. Of course at the same time, in a similair parallel universe to where they live in, they continue the “lets-chrome-the sh*t-out-of-my-car” attitude as well. Some people need to be told that we dont live in a rap video.

Number 3 : This one is more complex, and needs dividing into different parts. Its a mix between the spikey, blow dried hair, and the i-wanna-be-david-beckham look. This follows of course the max-the-crap-out-my-scalp-with-gel fad a few years back. Male hairstyles have gotten out of head, use any mall restroom and you will find all the pushing and shoving around the mirror areas with people puffing up their hair and putting subtle touches. There is nothing subtle about your hairstyles.

Of course the bulk of it has come from a single culprit. Able to twist the minds of our youth into the biggest and loudest as well as the weirdest hairstyles…. the discovery of the hair dryer!

Number 4 : Our beautiful ladies were determined not be outdone by this bold move from the masculine side, so they introduced the alien hijab. I have heard they place yoghurt cups inside to hold the position, my conscience doest want to believe that. They would have made Dan Aykroyd and Co. in Coneheads proud. Behold the masterpieces to come.

Number 5 : Facebook. When your boss at work is a 50 year old man with no tech/social networking background and adds you as a friend to Facebook, then something is acutely wrong. I dont see you or talk to you outside of work, why would i want to be your buddy on facebook?  The social networking scene in Kuwait has boomed in 2009 along with the hair styles.

Marco Schultis lost control of his car at a bend in the first stage of the race and ploughed into a crowd of fans near the town of Rio Cuarto. "A 28-year-old woman suffered a traumatic brain injury as well as injuries to her stomach and pelvis," a local doctor said. The woman died later in hospital, and five other spectators were seriously injured.

With Gulf Run 5 right around the corner, at Up Till One we have got our hands on an exclusive teaser.  The event will begin on the 15th and 16th of January in 360 Mall with a car show. All the cars taking part will be on display and it is open to the public. Exotic, tuned up and stock cars will all be available for everyone to see.

Maybe many of you have heard of rumours surrounding this years event. And this teaser just adds fuel to the fire!

Rumour number 1 : Gulf Run 5 has become a 3 day event this year, a day extra from what was being marketed earlier. Credibility of rumour ? As you can see from the dates in the teaser clip, it seems it has been prolonged by one day. Let’s just wait and see!

Rumour number 2 : Gulf Run 5 will include a drift course this year.  Believe it or not, Gulf Run 5 is being rumoured to be giving “The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift” a run for their money with this brand new event in their schedule. Credibility of rumour ? Let’s just wait and see…..

There will be only 50 drivers participating in the event due to safety measures, but thanks to the Gulf Run staff, they have made the entrance for spectators easy, and they are more than welcome to the event.

Expect everything from a Honda CRX to a KTM Xbow, and everything in between at this years event. It is being hyped as an event that cannot be missed by anyone, let alone car enthusiasts.

I saw this at a blog i have been reading for a while, Eleventh-St, and i think it is the car enthusiasts answer to microsoft’s flight simulator. Its worth £120,000 and will use either three 42 inch screens or stereo projectors. Among other things, it will recreate the g-forces felt in a real f1 car as accurately as possible. It is being marketed as not being a video game, i beg to differ. Maybe our friends at Gulfrun can make it part of their event for the future. Thanks Eleventh-St.
