Heinz Introduces a New Ketchup Packet
5 Feb 2010 8 CommentsPORTLAND, OR (AP) — The ketchup packet has been around for more than 40 years, and complaints about it for nearly as long: too messy, too small, too hard to open. Now H.J. Heinz Co. is unveiling the first major packaging change to the to-go condiment.
The new design has a base that’s more like a cup for dipping and also a tear-off end for squeezing. It holds three times as much ketchup.
Heinz has long struggled to find a design that did all that that could also be sold cheaply enough.
The company recently made a solution a top priority. It even bought its design team a minivan to give their ideas real road tests.
The new packet is in test markets and will roll out at some fast-food restaurants in the fall.
Posh Cafe@360 Mall
16 Jan 2010 2 CommentsAfter spending some time yesterday morning at GulfRun car show at 360 Mall, I decided to go in and have a quick snack/meal somewhere in the mall. So we just walked into the open area with the cafe’s and decided to try Posh Cafe. I thought the name was kind of snobby and unoriginal, but went against my urge and sat there anyway. I didnt take any pictures and this is not an in-depth review. But we tried a selection of sliders, the chicken lettuce wrap and some juices. The presentation and taste of the food was very good. The waiters were professional, and the atmosphere was nice and open. Since it was a quick snack, I will have to go back again with the intention of really digging in and ordering a real meal. But so far it looks pretty good.
The Good Old Days (Part 2) – Hungry Bunny
10 Jan 2010 28 CommentsAfter trying Wimpy with N & Heema, and as a part of our “retro-burger” experience, Hungry Bunny had to be next. Although I didn’t enjoy Wimpy that much, but the idea of eating HB once more was on my mind all the time. I guess I was looking for some “closure” because of the way this whole food chain disappeared :p. Anyway, I didn’t want to try the one in Hawali cause I know it’s not the original one.
Signor Sassi – Third Time’s A Charm?
2 Jan 2010 3 CommentsToday was my second time dining at Signor Sassi, I didn’t post my first experience because it was pretty bad. The food was not that great and the service was like a bad horror movie, I could have gotten better service at McDonald’s.
Today’s encounter was a bit better, I tried a breaded veal and it was pretty good. The service was also better but still needs much work. waiters still don’t know their menu. I had a simple question that was “is your cheesecake baked?” and waited for 5 minutes to get an answer. It wasn’t baked and wasn’t good for those who are planning to have cheesecake for dessert.
Still going to give it one more chance before completely writing it off. Hope you don’t disappoint Signor Sassi.

The Good Old Days – WIMPY
29 Dec 2009 8 CommentsAfter reading Ansam’s post a few days ago about her having WIMPY for lunch, I immediately wanted to get some. The last time I had a Wimpy burger was ages ago, I also managed to talk the guys in the Diwaniya into ordering with me.
We all ordered the quarter pounder w/egg, its not the best burger in the world but it has a distinct taste to it, it really brought back memories, not all good, not all good but still memories. I will most definitely be having some again soon.
You can find Wimp’s menu and contact information here
Pizza Rustica – Restaurant Review
27 Dec 2009 4 CommentsAfter seeing a movie, we decided to have lunch at the Avenues (even though it was crowded, we were hungry).
My wife suggested that we try Pizza Rustica, I know that it was opened a while ago but we still haven’t been there, The restaurant’s location isn’t that great either(I almost didn’t go there because of that, I wanted something that had outside seating, the weather was amazing). It’s located at the end of the food-court opposite to Applepees.
When we got there we noticed that they HAD a few tables on their balcony, we immediately sat there.I ordered an eggplant appetizer and a pizza and my wife had a ravioli.
Let me say that the food was great, all of it. one of the hardest things to get right is the pizza crust, and I absolutely loved theirs. of course fast food pizza are getting disgusting here in Kuwait, so I’m not getting my pizza fix that often any more.
Pizza Rustica is simply the best pizza in Kuwait, and of course good experience doesn’t come from the food alone, the service was excellent too. the staff were helpful and knew their menu, recommended the eggplant dish and juices that we loved too.

Fatburger
22 Dec 2009 17 Comments
Last October, during the GITEX expo in Dubai, me and Heema where strolling through Dubai mall looking for Ms. Fields when we came across Fatburger. I was surprised because I haven’t heard that they opened in Dubai. And because we are burger junkies, we didn’t even think twice before standing in line to order.

After a 7-8 minute wait for our order and a 15 second eating session we came to this conclusion, Fatburger is easily the best fastfood burger place in the gulf I’ve tried so far, until Shake Shack opens that is.
I didn’t post about this earlier because I’ve lost my sony point-and-shot, that I got last April, and with it all my pics :/

Over-Eating & Other Vices in Ramadan
17 Sep 2009 6 Comments
Why is it that alot of people gain weight in a month where you are supposed to eat much less? Obviously, the main reason is that we hardly eat healthy in Ramadan like what Nestle recommends here. I never watched what i ate, or made a conscience decision not to eat “junk” in order to stay healthy. But isnt it ironic that a reason for fasting in Ramadan is to “feel” for the underpriveleged, yet our dining tables when we break our fast bear more resembelance to a banquet? How about people staying up to the early hours of the morning “to pray” at sunrise and then sleep through noon prayer or other prayer times during the day? It has been noted by professor’s at Cornell University that there are certain “table manners in Islam” that we may not be following.
Some points to ponder?

Everybody Loves Kitco
4 Aug 2009 18 Comments
We all have our hobbies and likes and dislikes. But there are certain points in our lives where things reach out of hand and become addictions. We have all heard of cocaine, heroin, etc. addicts. You hear about food addicts and alcohol addicts. Even internet and television addicts. But i doubt anyone has heard of the Kitco addict! Kitco cocktail chips/crisps(for you british tw*ts) have been around for a long time, and even rebranded their logo’s to a freaky looking bunny a few years back. A good friend of ours every weekend in the chalet used to always brings bags and bags of Kitco Cocktail with him. They would be available at every corner, table, and section of the sitting area. Thats besides his own stash just in case the inventory was going low. (no one ever found out where he actually would hide his stash until this day) And just in case it all finished out, there was always the portable Baqala with a healthy amount available. We used to tell him he was addicted to it as a joke! Continue Reading
