If you think that touch control mobile gaming is taking too much out of the screen and doesn’t give the player enough control then let me introduce you to the GameKlip.
The GameKlip lets you physically attach a PS3 controller to your smartphone and with software like Sisxaxis Controller you can connect your controller to your phone if it is supported.
Getting everything up and running isn’t too difficult but isn’t plug-and-play either. For android touch enabled games you would need to configure each game separately. And for emulator is just setting up the controller in the emulator settings.
The downside of the GameKlip is the entry price is high. You have to own a PS3 controller for this to work, and if you don’t want to keep pairing your controller with your phone and console regularly then you should have an extra controller which costs by itself and add to that the cost of the GameKlip.
The bottom line is if your are really accustomed to the PS3 controller and would love to use it as part of your Android gaming then the GameKlip is for you.
I keep checking their website every couple of months to see if they are preforming anywhere close. I was hoping they’ll be doing a concert in London thinking that it is the closest place they could preform in but to my surprise Video Games Live are preforming in Dubai on December 14th. Needless to say I already booked my tickets.
You’ve got just under 36 hours to back the most crowd-funded pc gaming project of all time.
Star Citizen is a space trading/combat simulator being made exclusively for the PC. It is being developed by Chris Roberts, the guy behind classics like Wing Commander and Freelancer.
The game isn’t scheduled for release until late 2014, but backing the project now gets you exclusive access to the alpha and beta.
Celebrating the Metal Gear series 25th anniversary, Hideo Kojima reveal the next installment of the franchise at PAX.
A 10+ mins video showing off Snake doing what he does best and the new Fox Engine that looks absolutely great. It also looks like the game is going to be about Naked Snake/Big Boss.
"I want to make it clear that Snake is back, but I’m also back." emphasizing that he is creating this game him self.
Live demo starts around the 9 min mark.
It is also worth mentioning that Kojima announced a few days earlier that Metal Gear is coming to the big screen. It is still too early as neither the actors nor the director have been chosen. But what is for sure is that the movie will be produced by Avi Arad (Iron Man, X-Men and The Amazing Spiderman).
The OUYA is an Android based box with a controller. It is supposed to be a game console but because it is Android based I think it will be much more. I think it will be an Apple TV/Boxee Box competitor with a bit more functionality. The device is designed by Yves Behar, The guy who designed the Jawbone Jambox.
When I first stumbled on the project had $300,000 and all purchasing options were available, I thought to myself that I’ll do it the morning of the next day. To my surprise, the next day news about the OUYA was all over the internet. The project had over 2 million dollars (approaching 5 millions at the moment) and all but one purchasing options are gone.
The specs of the device are:
Tegra 3 quad-core processor
8GB of internal flash storage
HDMI connection to the TV, with support for up to 1080p HD
WiFi 802.11 b/g/n
Bluetooth LE 4.0 USB 2.0 (one)
Wireless controller with standard controls (two analog sticks, d-pad, eight action buttons, a system button), a touchpad
The OUYA is scheduled for release in March 2013.
All major companies had they E3 press conferences with the exception of Nintendo. A ton of new game IP’s were announced and a lot more sequels.
But the best game in my opinion that was shown in E3 so far is Watch Dogs from Ubisoft. The game looks great with a mix of stealth and hacking.
No word on a release date just yet so 2013 looks likly .
The Electronic Entertainment Expo or E3 for short officially kicks off tomorrow but usually there are some pre-E3 conferences held by major companies. Nintendo released a pre E3 direct stream which was a new thing. And Microsoft will lead with the first conference today starting 7:30 PM local time (1630 GMT). Both Microsoft and Sony said they won’t be announcing any new hardware at the show but we can still hope. I’m also excited to see more of Nintendo’s new Wii U.
You can watch the conferences online here:

Bethesda (makers of games such as Skyrim, Fallout and Rage) took the wraps off their new game Dishonored, a new first person adventure game that looks like a mix of Bioshock and Assassin’s Creed.
"Dishonored puts you in the shoes of a supernatural assassin driven by revenge. You are the once-trusted bodyguard of the beloved Empress. Framed for her murder, you become an infamous assassin, known only by the disturbing mask that has become your calling card. In a time of uncertainty, when the city is being besieged by plague and ruled by an oppressive government armed with strange technologies, dark forces conspire to bestow upon you abilities beyond those of any common man.
In Dishonored, creatively eliminate your targets with the flexible combat system as you combine the numerous supernatural abilities, weapons and unusual gadgets at your disposal. Pursue your enemies under the cover of darkness or ruthlessly attack them head on with weapons drawn. The outcome of each mission plays out based on the choices you make."
Dishonored is scheduled for release by the end of 2012.
Being a gamer, I was thinking of getting the PS Vita ever since it was announced. But because of the underwhelming sales I thought I should hold out for a while anticipating a price cut just like what happened with the Nintendo 3DS. But I was caught of guard when I saw that XCITE were selling the 3G version for 105KD which was a very good price. The first thing you notice on any device these days is the screen. And the PS Vita’s 5″ 960×544 bright and crisp screen is just great.
The second analog stick is a godsend. People were asking for it ever since the release of the original PSP. Having it makes gaming much more natural especially if you are a console gamer since both XBOX and The Playstation both have dual analog sticks.
The console has just been released so the game library isn’t that big at the moment. You can play the games either via a physical game card or a digital download which is my favorite. The problem is the the PS Vita doesn’t come with any built-in memory so you would have to buy a memory card if you plan to download games, demos or even watch movies.
The battery is a problem with the device. During my gaming sessions I managed to get 3 hours max from a fully charge battery, that was with full brightness, wifi on and no sim card installed.
All in all I would say that the PS Vita is a pretty capable device that would be better if there was a bigger game selection but I’m sure that will be coming along on the near future.
With games like Battlefield 3 and Modern Warfare 3 hailed as the best online multiplayer experience you can have if you are a FPS guy. But what about old school gamers? How about Mario multiplayer but with a twist?
I posted about Mari0 (that’s with a 0 not an O) about six months ago [here] when it was a work in progress. It got released a few weeks back with some few elements, namely multiplayer.
I really encourage trying out the game. Its available Windows, Mac and Linux.
