GulfRun’s Full Motion Simulator, A Proper Pro Racing Simulator
8 Sep 2011 6 Comments
I was notified by Marzouq yesterday that the GulfRun team had spent the last 5 months fine tuning/developing a racing simulator and it was setup in Baroue in the Avenues’s 1st floor. Of course I immediately agreed for 2 reasons. 1) me being a gaming enthusiast. 2) because everything these guys do is professional and I still haven’t seen them do any half-assed job yet. just have a look at their events, videos, and all other stuff.
The sim was amazing, it is a 3 screen setup that any geek would love and appreciate. A full motion seat that makes turning every corner a thrill and an ultra realistic track-mapping. The track was actually scanned and produced with extreme detail, even the damn bumps in the straight are there.
The GulfRun Simulator is open to the public, the price of admission is KD2.5 and its located as I mentioned in Baroue’s upper level in the Avenues mall.
They were logging blogger lap times, I didn’t even think of asking whats my best time was. But they will be on the side screens for onlookers to enjoy and giggle at.
If I find the time, I might go back there again tomorrow. I think I just found something else to do at the Avenues other than eating Shake Shack burgers.

The Razer Blade – The World’s First True Gaming Laptop
27 Aug 2011 2 Comments
If you are a PC gamer, you would definitely have heard of Razer before. They produce some high quality PC accessories form mouses and keyboards to gaming headsets.
But they seem to be getting into the PC manufacturing business. After all, HP will be leaving a huge gap with it leaving the consumer PC market. The laptop code named “Razer Blade” is the thinnest 17″ laptop in the market today and packs an impressive spec sheet, 2.8GHz Core i7 CPU and NVIDIA GeForce GT 555M graphics 2GB of GDDR5 VRAM and a 17.3-inch LED 1920 x 1080 display. It also takes a cue from their own “SwitchBlade” concept they revealed at CES. Implementing a LCD trackpad that also can be used as a secondary display for game info and quick shortcuts.
With a price of $2800, just over KD750, I think it is an excellent gaming laptop considering that 17″ MacBook pros start at $2500/KD700 almost.

If you have a steam account, you can visit the Steam Calculator website and see just how much your account is worth. The Best Of Two Worlds

I went back to PC gaming a while back and really loved it. Getting your games digitally is far more convenient than buying a physical disk. And also getting it immediately as soon as it is released is just great (if it is available for the PC).
Also, playing FPS’s with a keyboard and mouse is 10 times better than playing it on any console. But for some games you just need a good controller, like driving games for example. And in my opinion, the XBOX 360 controller is the best controller available out there. And because I’ve got a few laying around, I just got the XBOX 360 Wireless Receiver to connect the 360 controller to my PC. So now whenever I need to play a game with a controller, I just power on my 360 controller and thats it. All of the games that I played using the controller recognize that it is a 360 controller and even color code the buttons and selections in the game.
The XBOX 360 Wireless Receiver is available at Amazon for around $28/KD8 [Link].
