I’ve been waiting for the rest of my PC components to arrive so that I can really enjoy the gaming frenzy that is currently going on. But my packages have been piling up in customs since before eid and they are still there 4 working days later. I am really frustrated.
I’ve had my original PC without modifications ever since I built it a couple of years ago. But with all the PC gaming I’m currently doing, I thought an upgrade was needed to cope with the newer, high-end games. The most important part of the PC hardware when it comes to gaming might be the GPU, my old card was a GTX 285. Back in its day, it was top of the line, but it is still considered a capable card.
The time of the upgrade was very awkward as the current generation of GPU have been in the market for more than year now, and the next generation (Nvidia’s 600 series) is rumored to be just around the corner. So I decided not to spend a lot of money on the high-end card and get a more than adequate GTX 570 that can get me through this influx of games with flying colors.
I got a significant jump in frame rates in Battlefield 3 as I got on my GTX 285 40fps on the medium setting, and 20-25fps on the ultra setting. But with the GTX 570 I got an average of 72fps on medium setting and 45fps on ultra setting.
I also set up my GTX 285 to be a dedicated PhysX card.
A am now waiting for the rest of the PC parts to arrive and start installing them.
These couple of weeks are pretty hectic for gamers. Games like Uncharted 3 and Battlefield 3 were released a few days ago and games like Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 and Skyrim are soon to be released (Nov. 8th and 11th respectively).
I am not planning to leave my gaming station a lot. I’ve got a good amount of snacks and junk food at arm’s length and plenty of sugar drinks in the fridge. This is going to be a pretty entertaining week.
UK’s The Gadget Show manages to put together the ultimate FPS simulator by stitching together a number of different technologies that are already available. I wonder how much does this cost?
The highly anticipated third installment of Blizzard’s hack and slash RPG game Diablo 3 had a new trailer released. The game is at the beta stage at the moment and is scheduled for release sometime in Q1 2012. The third installment of the Diablo series comes more than 11 years after the Diablo 2 was released back in June 2000.
The annual Blizzard conference (Blizzcon) just concluded and this video shows all the major announcement in just about 5 minutes which makes it more convenient than going there myself or watching the live stream.
The Uncharted franchise is one of the most successful PS3 original franchises, and its third installment of the series is scheduled for release on November 1st.
Too many games, too little time.
I just managed to complete the campaign of Gears of War 3, were you conclude the trilogy that started on the Xbox 360 5 years ago. Emphasizing the use of cover, this 3rd person shooter is one of the best franchises on the 360.
The cool thing in GoW3 is the 4 player Co-Op campaign and of course the online “Horde” mode.
Thats another game off my list.
This cool flash based shoot’em’Up where you have to type to destroy your enemies. Z-Type reminds me of an old Sega game called The Typing of the Dead that was released on the Dreamcast back in 1999.
I just found my new Time-waster game.
It took me a while, but I finally managed to complete the game earlier today. It was one of my top 10 games for what is left of 2011 a month ago.
The game is fantastic, it is a mixture of Metal Gear, Splinter Cell and a little bit of Mass Effect with it’s RPG elements. I highly recommend the game, but also there are a ton of other games being released in the next few days that makes getting just one new game to damn confusing.
