7 Jun 2011  No Comments

Sony announced a new technology at their E3 conference. A “PlayStation” branded 3D display that has the ability to display to separate images simultaneously at full screen. So multiplayer games will no longer suffer from the cropped up images and each player having just half the screen.

This 24″ display comes with a copy of Resistance 3, a pair of glasses (second set will cost $69) and a HDMI cable. All this for $500.

Announcements Week

6 Jun 2011  2 Comments

There are 2 major expos taking place this week. WWDC, Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference will kick-off later today with Steve Jobs taking the stage and will announce a few things:

  • iOS 5
  • OS X Lion
  • iCloud

What I hope he will announce:

  • A revamped notification and widget system for the iOS 5. Something similar to what the Android has.
  • A new Airport/Time Capsule. A lot of theories are built upon a new Time Capsule and it getting either an A4 or A5 chip. I was in the process of getting on till I heard those rumors and decided to hold off for a few days.
  • Macbook Air i3/i5 upgrade.
  • Mac Mini i3/i5 upgrade.
  • Apple TV A5 chip upgrade and the ability to run apps.

The other event that is taking place this week is the Electronic Entertainment Exposition (E3 for short). There are a lot of games that I’m looking forward to playing, so I hope I get more info about them:

  • Nintendo’s new console
  • Uncharted 3
  • Gears of War 3
  • Bioshock: Infinite
  • Infamous 2
  • Need for Speed: The Run
  • Forza 4
  • Skyrim
  • Tomb Raider
  • Darksiders ii
  • Batman: Arkham City
  • Silent Hill: Downpour

And a lot more.

Portal 2: Best Game I’ve Played in A Long Time

1 May 2011  1 Comment

Portal 2 is a First Person/Puzzle Platform video game that is hugely addictive and fun to play. It is the sequel to the very popular Portal game that was released back in 2007. Its a nice change from the regular FPS’s and other action games.

The game is available on PC,PS3 and XBOX 360. I managed to complete the single player campaign in a couple of days but there is still the multiplayer to waste more hours on.

Battlefield 3 Full Length Trailer

17 Apr 2011  1 Comment

For those of you who weren’t paying attention to EA releasing a Battlefield 3 trailer every couple of weeks. They just released a full length gameplay trailer (12 mins) showcasing Dice’s upcoming first-person-shooter.

The graphics are stunning but the AI has a long way to go before it can be interesting. Release is still far off as its scheduled for a November release.

The Most Disturbing Game Trailer Released

20 Feb 2011  4 Comments

The recently released trailer of Dead Island is the most twisted trailer I’ve seen in a long time. Especially for gaming. The game is going to be an open world game played from a first person perspective with some RPG elements. The game is scheduled to be released later this year.

A Historic Grammy For Gaming

19 Feb 2011  1 Comment

I’ve been real busy so this might be old news for some bust I still thought I should post about it.

A few months ago, Christopher Tin made headlines when his song “Baba Yetu” that was originally written for the game Civilization IV, was nominated for a Grammy. It was the first ever music that was originally written for a game to be nominated.

Earlier this week, Baba Yetu won in the “Best Instrumental Arrangement Accompanying Vocalist(s)” category.  I hope this is just the beginning. as we all know how wonderful gaming music really is.
