iPhone 3.0.1 Update

So Apple released the new update for the iPhone yesterday, 3.0.1. You will download about 280MB of action packed updates which will increase the speed of your iPhone, make browsing faster, allow background Apps to work, and prolong battery life…… NOT!

This update will patch up some vulnerability issue in the SMS’s that no one has ever heard of. So basically you will waste about 30 mins using a 2MB connection to download and install a worthless amount of data. Why can’t Apple do this in a more reasonable manner, lets say 10mb or 20mb maximum? Get your act together Steve Jobs!

My HTC Hero Has Shipped

Exactly one month after pre-ordering the HTC Hero, it has finally shipped and on it’s way. I’m expecting it next Monday/Tuesday. Will post as soon as I get it.

I ordered the HTC Hero from Expansys, I was charged a total of £371.77 which is about KD175, Thats including shipping to Kuwait. And I think I get a £30 voucher, which makes the total almost KD160, Thats a KD120 cheaper than the 16 GB iPhone 3GS that I’m trying to talk everybody I know out of upgrading to it, especially if you own an iPhone 3G, because it makes no sense.

This is the first internationally released Android phone, which means that it should do very well, and we should see a larger adoption rate and also see more apps made for it.

I’ll do a review if it’s worth the hype after I spend a few days with the phone.

Nokia’s n97 has just released and is now available unlocked at expansys for £440 (about 210KD). I’ve ordered from them in the past and they are reliable.

The design is just great, the device is very sexy, slim and light. it has the same glossy finish as other ASUS netbooks.

Palm Pre Reviews Hit The Net

Well, Palm Pre is just a few days away from launch (next Saturday) and the reviews are popping up all over the net.

So what’s the verdict? It’s a wonderful phone with a lot of room for improvement. Hardware is good (I don’t care if they say it’s a little flimsy, physical keyboard is a humongous plus for me), software is pretty good all-around (even bests the iPhone in a lot of places) but there is definitely room for improvement.

Now we wait for a GSM version.

Skyfire: Enables Flash on Your Windows Mobile and Symbian Phone

Skyfire just came out from beta and available for download. I gave it a try when it in beta on my TYTN II (couldn’t test it on my HTC HD because the resolution wasn’t supported) and it was pretty good. It’s much better than you built-in browser.

Skyfire is supported by all windows-mobile and Nokia S60 3rd Edition phones.
