Defendor – Movie Review

30 Mar 2010  1 Comment

Defendor

A crooked cop, a mob boss and the young girl they abuse are the denizens of a city’s criminal underworld. It’s a world that ordinary Arthur Poppington doesn’t understand and doesn’t belong in, but is committed to fighting when he changes into a vigilante super-hero of his own making, Defendor. With no power other than courage Defendor takes to the streets to protect the city’s innocents

This is not a comedy, there are some funny moment in the movie but I would never classify it as a comedy. Woody Harrelson performance is solid in this movie. I didn’t like the movie very much, maybe because I was expecting it to be more like Zombieland than a drama (which this movie is) I might have liked it more if I didn’t see the trailer and expecting to laugh from start to finish.

Men Who Stare At Goats – Movie Review

26 Mar 2010  1 Comment

Yesterday me and Bo Yousif went to Men Who Stare at Goats in AL-Fanar cinema at 11pm the movie is about a reporter – Bob Wilton – who is in search of his next big story when he encounters Lyn Cassady, a shadowy figure who claims to be part of an experimental U.S. military unit. According to Cassady, the New Earth Army is changing the way wars are fought. A legion of “Warrior Monks” with unparalleled psychic powers can read the enemy’s thoughts, pass through solid walls, and even kill a goat simply by staring at it. Now, the program’s founder, Bill Django, has gone missing and Cassady’s mission is to find him. Intrigued by his new acquaintance’s far-fetched stories, Bob impulsively decides to tag along. When the pair tracks Django to a clandestine training camp run by renegade psychic Larry Hooper, the reporter is trapped in the middle of a grudge match between the forces of Django’s New Earth Army and Hooper’s personal militia of super soldiers. In order to survive this wild adventure, Bob will have to outwit an enemy he never thought possible.
I went to the movie thinking its going to be a hardcore comedy. Boy was I wrong, the movie has some attempts but its a crime calling it a comedy.

Cop Out – Movie Review

13 Mar 2010  2 Comments

cop-out

A comedy about a veteran NYPD cop whose rare baseball card is stolen. Since it’s his only hope to pay for his daughter’s upcoming wedding, he recruits his partner to track down the thief, a memorabilia-obsessed gangster.

I am a fan of Bruce Willis and enjoy his movies. I am also a fan of Tracy Jordan ever since I saw him in 30 Rock, but that didn’t affect  my decision one bit.
The movie was a below average movie just because there was a lot of  childish comedy that wasn’t that funny and they kept repeating it all throughout the movie. you are not missing a thing by not watching this movie.
