Fast forward a few months, Y=the same company just had an event showcasing their new tech/camera and they say it should be available in March/April 2012. $400 for the 8GB version and $500 for the 16GB version.

So what is it about the LYTRO camera that is so special? it will make the half a press of the camera that was used for focusing a thing of the past as with its camera you will never need to focus another image again. The camera captures all the light from all the object from all the different depths and you can then select the focus point desired post process. It will also make 3D image much easier to generate.

Mr. Infinite Driver/NegativeEffect (you know, the guy behind the awesome GulfRun videos) is holding a competition where the prize is the minimalistic John’s Phone. It’s a really cool phone and the rules are simple:

One of those gems is the Canon AE-1, the first microprocessor equipped SLR that started production back in 1976.

You might remember back when I posted about the stupid DSLR ban that turned out to be just stupid journalism from a few individuals who people call “journalists”. Yes I mean you Al-Watan, Kuwait Times and Arab Times.

Anyway, in that article I posted that I had a DSLR and a couple of lenses held at customs. They arrived shortly after posting the article and I’ve been using them now for over a month now. I just love those 2 lenses. almost all of my blog post pics that I’ve posted were using those 2 lenses.

I’m planing to buy at least 1 more lens, need a zoom lens instead of the kit lens that I got with my previous (Sony Alpha 350) camera. I order a 18-250mm 3.5-6.3 lens and it should arrive any day now.

Also I found a really cool photo of the eclipse.

It seems that from the article that photographers *think* that the ban came from the people’s fear of their privacy being invaded by The Big Black Camera.

If I spent a few hundreds/thousands of my hard earned Kuwaiti DInars to buy a camera and a few lenses, that meant I’m taking photography seriously and not looking to invade anyone’s privacy. The one’s who are doing this shit are maybe any idiot with a capable phone camera or even a Point&Shoot.

I got into photography a couple of years ago and I absolutely love it. In fact, I just bought a couple of new lenses and a brand new DSLR (Sony SLT-A55) and its sitting waiting to be cleared by customs for the past 10 days.

Albuquerque’s elevation is 5500 feet the air is very thin here, it really gets hard to breath as soon as you start doing anything, especially if you live at almost sea level all of your life. The tram took us another 5000 feet to 10600 feet in 15 minutes.

The best idea we had is to take our jackets with us to the peak. it really was cold and windy. The temperature was 7 degrees when we arrived a the top, and it started to get colder as the sun was setting.

We spent a total of two hours walking in a narrow and slippery walkways that we didn’t prepare for at all. We also snapped a ton of pictures. After that we decided to head back.

There was also a restaurant up there at 10500′ we really wanted to try it but we didn’t have any reservation and the waiting time was 2 hours and there was no way that we were just going to stand there waiting for a table. Will go back up there just for the restaurant maybe.

An artist by the name of Sam O’Hare created video by compiling over 35,000 pictures taken in a single week last August. Using tilt-shift photography, O’Hare managed to make New York city look like a miniature model.

That’s one amazing view, just like the beautiful weather we had the last couple of days :)

Last weekend we had very nice weather hear, so we decided to have a BBQ. I usually do my own patties, but because this was sudden we decided to try the Kobe Burger.

So my wife picked up a dozen burgers from Sultan Center. It was a very nice burger with minimal effort. The burgers were so juicy and tasty. need to find a better bun though.

I would love a real burger at the moment.

The end has finally dawned, and GulfRun 5 at the Bahrain International Circuit was over. I think everyone who participated or went to the event enjoyed it, as there was all out safe action and surprises down the way.  Last night was the closing ceremony in Lenotre, and GulfRun with their sponsors, handed out the timings of all the drivers and events and their awards.

Overall it seems there is alot of variety with the cars getting podiums and top times. The BMW M-Series have done well in alot of different categories, as well as the Lotus Exige.  The more track-oriented cars like KTM X-Bow and Caterhams are also around the top times.  Alot of different variety of street and supercars were on show here. And splitting them up into different categories also made it more realistic to race similar types of models (power-wise). Even though there were alot of awesome machines at the track this year lets hope some new ones show up next year to add more competition….

All in all, a special thank you to GulfRun, Marzouq from Zdistrict , and also Al-Falah Car Wash for their great dedication and help in making this possible for everyone. Until next year… drive safely.

Yesterday we passed by Info Connect at the International Fair Ground to see what’s new. We weren’t expecting much from there except for some new DSL prices but we still had to wonder around checking stuff out before ManU/Arsenal – Egypt/Ghana games.

To our amazement we found a cleaning solution in an Tech/IT expo.

we ended up buying 3 of this AMAZING Kleaner :/

Also when walking around we noticed an unreleased Android mobile device on display in a protected glass case.

Yes it is the SonyEricsson’s upcoming X10. it will be the company’s first android device that should be available as early as next month.

Zidaneoo was also looking for a new laptop. So, we had a quick look around and saw an i7 and an i5 HP laptops that had a very good price. cant remember the exact pricing and specs. but I should have the up soon.

We took our time there wich made us miss both game’s kick-off. and when we got to Showtime’s booth i saw this.

Of course they were watching the Egypt game.

And when it was time to leave, it was raining and we were greeted with a lightnings show.

So, not much to say about the Expo. With the exception of semi-good ADSL prices.

Yesterday was the third and final day of the GulfRun. The whole day was drag racing only. The disappointing thing is that not all the cars participated in the event, but it was still a lot of un. Took some cool pictures.

All good things must come to an end. Thank you GulfRun you were wonderful.

Today was a really good day, the weather was a bit hot but very pleasant in the shade. All drivers participated in the full track, and also we saw some compete in the drifting competition that somehow transformed into a doughnut competition.

I also got to jump in a BMW M5 (above) and a Caterham (below) and be driven around the track.

Tomorrow, Day 3:

The drag race and the conclusion of the GulfRun 5 event. Practice should start by 9:30AM and then the elimination rounds. Should be fun.

Today was the first day in the Gulf Run 5 event, there was a very good turn up. we saw a lot of people that we knew there. we also saw a lot of bloggers.

We saw a lot of beautiful and exotic cars there as expected.

This was just the first day, and I took almost 400+ pictures, will filter and upload them when I get back.

Tomorrow: Day 2

All cars will have a go at the full track tomorrow. We might also see some drag racing too.

The set up was great, there was a DJ with nice music and lots of booths for most of the sponsors as well as the GulfRun booth selling their merchandise along with raffle tickets for the 2 Vespa’s. Our great friends Marzouq from Zdistrict was there as well as elwehbi from thegulfrun blog and brakebanzeen among others.

The following photos below were all taken by a 2 and half year old boy. This was his first time using a camera and it was a Nikon P6000, he is currently looking out for job offers.

I saw this canon-like Courvoisier Cognac bottle in a random store with lots of old and vintage stuff. I regretted not buying later actually because it does look pretty cool. I also found some really old wind up record players that still work which was also interesting. Click below to see the rest of the pictures.

These are supposedly vintage/antique Afghan guns. They did have some engravings with some weird scriptures on them but you can never be too sure. There were many different sizes and kinds of guns in this shop, as well as coins and other Afghani items.

With Avatar hot on the heels of Titanic as the number one grossing movie of all time, does it mean these classic “bufak” chips (or bofaki as written on the packet) will be replaced by ones with characters from Avatar in the near future? I wonder what Kate Winslet and Leonardo Dicaprio would think of their snack!?

Last but not least, in the “bishts” section i found this men’s jacket/bisht with its very original tiger/jaguar/cheetah print. Sorry about the hazy picture but if you notice in the top right of the picture, the owner was looking at me puzzled as i was autofocusing for the snap. But seriously, Denzel Washington would have looked much better in this than his Chinchilla in American Gangster.

On a more serious note, i enjoyed it and might actually go back in less than a year to buy some classic/vintage junk.
