I remember posting about Mr. Rossy last year when he tried out his new “Jet Propelled Wing” or jetpack and reaching speeds of 300 km/h in the descend.
The Jetman just attempted to fly in formation with a couple of L-39C planes for about 10 minutes and succeeded.
I want one.

If i was flying an aircraft coming in or out of JFK and a child’s voice came over from the control tower, i think i would be a little worried.

An air traffic controller at New York’s JFK airport has been suspended from work after allowing a child to direct flights in and out of one the world’s busiest airports. The incident took place on February 17 and an investigation has been opened. The child is also recorded saying “Adios, Amigo” to a Mexican pilot leaving the airport.

Accidents can happen with traffic in the air by different planes, maintenance problems, weather etc…. and now children taking over air traffic control….

I watched a documentary called Speed and Angels about 2 of the last F-14 Tomcat pilots on duty before it got officially decommissioned. It takes you through their lives as they try to make it as F-14 Naval pilots. Jay “Faceshot” and Meagan “Slick” go through tough times; Meagan as she is trying to be the first female Naval F-14 pilot and at the same time the last. And Jay trying to overcome adversity in his life before joining the Navy. A must for every fighter plane fan or Top Gun fan.

The movie has some amazing plane scenes including dogfights and combat, as well as real footage of some of their missions.

A funny trailer from the movie can be seen here.

Why is it that royalty or countries leaders send their kids to military school and/or give them a taste of it while growing up?

Its just one of those macho things…… well maybe not technically.

In 2008 the US spent $ 636,292,979,000 on military expenditures. You maybe thinking to yourself its the USA and they need to spend that much to remain a superpower. Lets put it into perspective; the entire European Union spent less than half that figure on their militaries. So basically, in the US you are born into it as a child to love the military and want to be a soldier , helping the good of the world against the super evil bad guys.

Same could be said about China, who have the worlds largest military at 325 million active troops. That is excluding the volunteer regiments and divisions. Now lets put that into perspective, the total US population in 2009 is about 300 million. So basically , China would bulldoze its way through the US….. not so fast, maybe if China had the same technology and advanced weaponry as the US they would. But doesnt China have all sorts of new technologies? But without it, could they pull it off? Or is their technology still not as powerful as other superpowers? Its one of those questions we may never know the answer to.

Picture above is of the Peruvian anti-riot police.

Picture above is of the Chinese fighter pilots.

The Chinese Air Force inventory includes over 400 combat aircraft, the mainstay being the F-16 and F-CK-1 IDFs, with the Mirage-2000s being its most formidable air-defence fighter. The older F-5s are gradually being phased out. IDF (Indigenous Defense Fighter) was developed in 1984 after the US initially refused to sell them the F-16, the plane flew for the first time in 1989 and was operational by 1994, at that time China also aquired the F-16 from the US and the Mirage 2000-5 from france.

Some say just the fact that some superpowers are much more disciplined than the US, and with time will be able to overtake their status as the worlds biggest and strongest force. But couldnt the same be said about the Soviet Union a few decades ago? Or maybe they were having too much Vodka at the time. Some points to ponder as i leave you with some images ….

Pictures above are of the military parade in Kuwait.

Larger militaries like those of China, often work as societies within societies. They have their own military communities with independent medicine, education, economies and other aspects of a normal civilian society. They are basically an organization, which have the authority by its nation to use force.

The advancement of the technology in the military fields is so much more advanced than any other scientific accomplishment in any other field of study. that goes to show you how much effort/money is being put into the military. with civilian companies such as Lockheed Martin, General Dynamics, and Dynacorp all working side by side with the US government, it is no surprise where their military stands now. Basically, the military expenditures are backed and in cooperation with these large civilian groups, are being funded by the public.

Picture above is of the US navy SEALS.

SEAL training consists of : 4–12 weeks Naval Special Warfare Preparatory School.

3 weeks Indoctrination

24 weeks Basic Underwater Demolition/SEAL (BUD/S) training at the Naval Special Warfare Center, Naval Amphibious Base Coronado, California.

4 1/2 weeks Parachute training (5 days of static-line, 3 1/2 weeks of military free-fall) at the U.S. Navy Tactical Air Operations School in San Diego, CA.

16 weeks of SEAL Qualification Training
