Souq Al-Mubarkiya – سوق المباركية
11 Jan 2010 4 CommentsYesterday i took my random yearly trip to Souq Al-Mubarkiya, one of the most historic places in Kuwait. I wasnt looking for anything, just a little walk around since the weather was nice and there wasnt much to do last night. It was nice to see some foreigners (europeans/americans) walking around and enjoying a taste of our history. I took some quick snaps of random things with my phone which you can find below…
I saw this canon-like Courvoisier Cognac bottle in a random store with lots of old and vintage stuff. I regretted not buying later actually because it does look pretty cool. I also found some really old wind up record players that still work which was also interesting. Click below to see the rest of the pictures. Continue Reading

Airport Screening Procedures Leaked Online
9 Dec 2009 2 CommentsThe Transportation Security Administration (TSA) stupidly posted online their 93 page brochure on airport screening criteria. It included lists of items that did not require screening, as well as stating that during peak times security is lessened.

The aforementioned passport-holders automatically targeted for secondary “selective” screening are, by the way, from Cuba, Iran, North Korea, Libya, Syria, Sudan, Afghanistan, Lebanon, Somalia, Iraq, Yemen or Algeria.

Two thumbs up, one to the TSA, and one to the Cuban with the massive moustache in the retro photo above.
Kick a Ginger Day!
7 Dec 2009 4 CommentsA redheaded sixth-grade girl victimized by a Facebook prank calling for students to participate in “Kick a Ginger Day” says she was scared that the incident could have gotten worse.

Sheriff’s investigators say the Facebook message may have been inspired by a “South Park” TV episode that satirized racial prejudice by portraying a campaign against red-haired, fair-skinned “ginger” people.
Its incredible what you will come up with if you search for “kick a ginger”. Even Prince Harry’s girlfriend and colleagues give him a hard time by calling him big ginger!
Kuwait in the News
3 Dec 2009 4 CommentsSome random news in relation to or taking place in Kuwait…

Kuwait’s formal request for the design and construction of Kuwait Air Force facilities and infrastructure. The estimated cost of the project is $700 million.
What credit crunch?

Kuwait’s National Industries Group or NIG, an affiliate of billionaire Nasser Al Kharafi’s conglomerate, said on Wednesday it has filed a lawsuit against a unit of U.S. private equity firm Carlyle Group over a $25 million investment loss.
You gotta love being called a “conglomerate”

A mother may have fallen asleep while breastfeeding and accidentally smothered her suckling infant aboard a flight from Washington to Kuwait
A very sad story.
A former U.S. Army Major stationed at Camp Arifjan, Kuwait, his wife, sister and niece were sentenced for their participation in a bribery and money laundering scheme related to contracts awarded in support of the Iraq war
More Iraq war conspiracies out of Kuwait.
As you can see most articles these days relating to Kuwait are either to do with money, military, conspiracies, or all the 3 put together.
