The Final

I might be the happiest football fan in the world at the moment. I cheer for both Netherlands and Spain and as you know both have made it to final making the final a bitter/sweet experience as only one team can win. Should be a very good game though as both teams play beautiful football.

Just make sure you are free Sunday night 6:30PM GMT (9:30PM local) to watch the final. Also don’t forget that the 3rd place match is on Saturday at the same time between Uruguay and Germany.

Egyptian Gets Smacked By An Algerian Fan

I just got this email from a friend. Even though it is sad to see what happened a few months ago still raging on between governments and its citizens of these two countries, but whats in this strip of photos is just hilarious.

So whats going on? During the world cup match between Algeria and Slovenia. As Robert Koren scored Slovenia’s goal in the 79th minute against Algeria, a lone egyptian fan in the stands started cheering right next to the Algerian fans. On of those fans just couldn’t control himself.

Just watch the pictures……

The Baseball Game

During my long stay here, I was invited more than once to go to a baseball game. As Albuquerque’s Isotopes are doing pretty well in the league. They are not in the major league but the good player move to the LA Dodgers. This wasn’t my first baseball game, I went to the San Diego Padres las year.

So me and the guys who have no idea what baseball is went there and basically treated it like a diwaniya. we were talking during the whole game. The game lasted for more than 3 hours.

The Isotopes won the game and maintained the lead in the league. All I can say is baseball is not my cup of tea.

The picture attached is my first attempt at Panoramas.

The 32 year old Mohammed Ali fought 25 year old George Foreman for the heavyweight title on October 30th 1974 in Kinshasa Zaire (now called Democratic Republic of the Congo). This mach is considered to be one of the greatest sporting events in history.

The video shows round 8 of the fight, Ali was using his rope-a-dope technique for almost 7 rounds. He then unleashes hell with only 20 seconds to go in the round and knocks Foreman out regaining the heavyweight title once again.

The History of The World Cup Balls

The New York Times has an interactive page showing the evolution of the World Cup over time.

An interesting fact is that in the 1930 world cup final, they used 2 balls for each half. The first half Argentina played with its ball and were leading 2-1 by the end of the half. The second half Uruguay used a slightly larger/firmer ball and ended up wining 4-2.

Abu Dhabi Sport Premier League Subscriptions

3 Jun 2010  19 Comments

Just read on 4thringroad that the new pricing plan for the English Premier League set by Abu Dhabi sport will start rolling out in mid July. The prices are great compared to what Showtime used to offer (cant remember exactly but somewhere around 65-70KD I think) and made you subscribe to a bunch of channels that you didn’t need.

Also a cool new touch is the online streaming capability that make all 380 games available to watch online but needs a separate subscription. Still if you get both subscriptions it will be cheaper than what showtime used to offer.
