Remi Gaillard is The Just Nuts

19 Jun 2009  No Comments

Remi Gaillard (you might know him as the crazy athlete from the decathlon video) is in my opinion is the funniest/craziest human alive and also one hell of a football player.

Apart from his normal pranks(which are usually sport oriented) he may have pulled off the best prank of all time.

He disguised himself with a Lorient team shirt, got through security and took part in the celebrations of Lorient’s win of Coupe de France at the Stade de France. It went as far as greeting president Jacques Chirac, performing victory runs with Lorient players around the pitch holding the cup, giving a TV interview, and signing autographs. He appeared in several photos days later in editions of French journal L’Equipe.

Here is the video:

Augmented Reality

In the last few days there was a lot of news of augmented reality. Augment reality is not somthing new at all, but it looks like its getting more as mainstream and also cooler.

AR Browser:

I actually blogged about this in ’07, NTT DOCOMO of japan was showing it’s vision of the 4G network.

But now it’s being released checkout the video

By utilizing the camera, gps and compass, you can get a lot more information than the naked eye and faster than the conventional browser.

AR Gaming:

We’ve seen this in the PlaystationEye, Nokia even had a game using this concept back in ’07 or even ’06. But this video is just awesome.

The demo device is using NVIDIA’s Tegra processor, this is the rumored processor to be powering the ZUNE HD. If true, it would really trump the iPod Touch in the gaming department.

My Red Eye Flight

Red Eye.jpg

I booked the red-eye out of San Diego to NY, the timing would be very good as I will arrive there early morning. The flight would depart San Diego INTERNATIONAL airport at 10pm and arrive at JFK airport at 7am and I would have the whole day ahead of me.

The problem was that my plane was coming from another destination (I don’t recall where) and it was late taking off from there, it arrived 45 mins late (10:45) and it was full of passengers.

So as soon as the aircraft landed they announced that they (Delta Airline Crew) are going to need are help to make the flight, “we have 30 minutes to clean the aircraft and get you on-board and close the gate” apparently because of the 11:30pm curfew the airport had the latest was 11:15 for an airplane to close it’s gate and be pushed-back. If we didn’t make it in time the flight would be canceled and we would be sent home and wait for the next flight that was 12 hours later and almost fully booked already.

The plane parked at the gate and the previous passengers looked like they were pushed off the plane and had a confused look on there faces. But that wasn’t my problem, I wanted to get on that plane. They changed crew and cleaned the aircraft in less than 5 mins. We started boarding – hectically at 10:55. I was in my seat at 11:10. The crew were all over the plane with arms flailing trying to stow the luggage in the over-head compartments.

It was 11:15 and we still haven’t pushed back so non of us new are we going to make it or not.

Finally at 11:18 the plane started to move and the crew told us that we OK, we are going to make it. That was one hell of a relief.

Back To San Diego

On my way to JFK. In the 3 days I’ve been here I had plenty of burgers, did a lot of walking and a fair amount of sight-seeing. I’ll write about my experience here when I get back.
